What best practices are you using to empower or engage your employees?

If you have visited Las Vegas, you will likely have heard of Steve Wynn – or at the very least, you have seen his towering casino resorts. In the accompanying video, Steve Wynn offers an example of how employee engagement fueled customer service and changed his business.

The challenge for managers is not to forget that they are managing individuals. Each individual may prefer to be managed differently. Some employees like working autonomously and prefer to be managed at arm's length, others require a little more guidance and others need to be hand-held until they are confident or fully productive. Getting to know the team, their strengths, developments, training needs, work preferences and management styles is an important part of ensuring a fully motivated, engaged and productive team.
